A Dice Sneak Peek
Thank you for visiting us at UKGE. Here's some detail from our first homegrown dice design and pouring. The first unique short run Trenchart dice will go on sale very soon. Sign up below with your email to get a special early access deal.
Design conception
We wanted our first dice to be representative of our ties with our new production partner, The Veterans' Forge C.I.C, and its close ties with military veterans. After carefully considering several themes, we settled on an art deco '20s/'30s era military style set of dice.

Sharp edges and high embossing were a want from the start and are a part of what makes these dice nigh unique amongst peers.
Material selection
Similarly to our want to accurately convey the history of our chosen design, we paired our prototype castings with recycled ammunition casings and bronze silica alloy to give a robust casting and a wonderful lasting patina that's naturally antimicrobial (not a bad thing for dice)!
Note: Our full production model will use traceable recycled brass sourced from MoD sites.
Prototype pours
Using modern MSLA printing techniques and lost wax ceramic shell casting, we were able to obtain many workable prototypes to gauge the design fidelity and functionality of the dice themselves.

Learning a lot from this initial process we tweaked the alloy choices and MSLA casting files significantly in order to get a reliable pour that was almost ready to roll!
Note: our production run will use a vacuum-assisted forging method rather than ceramic shell gravity pours.
Box art
So many dice boxes are used once and thrown away. Not only is this a failing in design, but it's highly wasteful.

We wanted to design a proper dice tin that would look good on display as well as hold your dice safely for play.

Our initial prototypes settled on a high-quality UV printed tin with laser-cut Zotefoam tool foam and a veneered, lasered cherry faceplate for a sublime premium look that holds dice safely.
The future
All of this took place between December 2021 and March 2022. We have a whole lot more to show you but you'll have to wait just a little longer.
